Ultimate – How to start mineral water business

Investing today in a project for a mineral water plant is a very wise move that you can take. However, you should first look at some of the important things you typically need when setting up a new mineral water plant before you start your new business. People now prefer to use mineral water in the city and even in villages in India. Mineral water is safe to drink as opposed to regular tap water and is also better for health. As time goes by, people are becoming increasingly aware of their health. Consumption and demand for bottled mineral water is steadily increasing, making it a viable option for many local entrepreneurs who want to start a new business in their locality.

Steps to start business:

1) Research on the market:

Research on the market is a critical step towards starting a new business. You can gain perspective and get informed of all the important things involved in this type of business through market research. This enables you to set realistic goals and make the best of your ability to make decisions.

2) Effective business plan:

Once you have completed market research, the next important step you should take is to develop a profitable but realistic business plan. The business plan will serve as your company’s framework and compass. It should include a sound marketing strategy, management team, pattern of staff, legal procedures, location of business, financial projection, suppliers and equipment, and all other important issues involved in running a mineral water plant.
Develop a business plan based on the cost of your equipment and the initial cost of staffing. The smaller your operations range, the fewer employees you will need.

3) Get licensing and Compliance Certificates:

You cannot operate without a license and a business permit. To get your business going, you need to get all the licenses you need. The following licenses and documents are required for setting up a bottled water plant in India:
  • Small scale industry registration certificate
  • AOA and MOA of the business
  • ISI certification from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
  • Pollution control certificate from local pollution board office
  • Feed water test report from laboratory
  • Pest control certificate

     4) Perfect location:

For your business, you need to select a physical base of operations. Centrality is the most important thing here. Your operating base should be as close as possible to the delivery points. Distribution costs are typically much higher in the pure drinking water business than the cost of packaging. It costs virtually nothing for the product itself. Therefore, by selecting a central location, you should try to minimize your transportation costs as much as possible.

     5) Hire and train employees:

You need to interview candidates, hire employees, and train them to perform the company’s different job tasks. You’ll need a variety of workers to operate processing and bottling equipment, delivery drivers, office staff to handle billing, payments, and payroll, and others to develop your business marketing and growth side.

     6) Search and get the supplier:

The next thing to consider is to get the necessary accessories, equipment, and machinery from the bottle supplier and the supplier. Make sure that the supplier of the bottle can provide you with the number and types of bottles required for your water plant. Choose the supplier that is a certified member of the International Bottled Water Association.
